Get your phone out of the bedroom

Cell phones are great. They have helped us become more connected, organized and have become our constant companions. It's hard to imagine a life without them. I remember back in the "old" days when I would carry a quarter around in case I had to make a phone call. It was tough times back then. As we have become so attached to our mobile devices one alarming trend has also emerged. Cell phone induced insomnia. We are so programmed to check our devices constantly that when we bring them into the bedroom for a seemingly good reason like being our alarm clock we end up obsessively checking emails, Facebook and other things that don't allow us to rest and relax. This is costing us quality sleep.
The Good news is there's an easy fix to this. Leave the cell phone out of the bedroom. Charge it in another room in the house. You will sleep better and that will pay off in your quality of sleep. I also recommend getting rid of that led glowing monstrosity of an alarm clock and go back to the wind up alarm clock. The reduced light in your bedroom will help you sleep better as well. Plus if there's a power outage you won't miss that big morning meeting. Happy sleeping! :)
